Chapter I — Stories that are slipping away
First the details go. The name of a street, the smell of a kitchen, a song from a wedding. Then the stories go — about the war and a first job, about who they loved and what frightened them, about how life used to be. Families tell us the same sentence, more often than any other:
“If only we had asked, while there was still time.”
Spominka exists so that asking is no longer a task you keep putting off. She asks the questions — unhurried, conversation by conversation. And within a few weeks, you hold the book in your hands.

The conversation begins
No apps, no passwords, nothing to learn. Spominka calls by phone, or joins on a tablet or computer — whichever feels most natural. She speaks slowly and clearly, in English. And her name? You choose that yourself.

They just tell their story
Spominka listens, asks follow-up questions, and remembers every story. Even after a week's pause, she picks up exactly where you left off. She never interrupts, she's never in a hurry — and any subject someone doesn't want to open stays closed.

Stories become a book
The conversations become a book written in the first person — their words alone, your photographs. You approve the table of contents, the chapters and every quote before printing. Nothing goes between the covers without the family's blessing.
There's no rush. Every story arrives when it's ready.

Frequently asked questions
Do they need a smartphone or a computer?
Not necessarily. The conversation can happen over an ordinary phone call, on a tablet, or in a browser on a computer — you choose whichever feels most familiar to them. You set everything up; they just talk.
What if they're not comfortable talking to artificial intelligence?
Spominka introduces herself honestly and speaks slowly, clearly and patiently. Most narrators forget about the technology after the first conversation — what remains is just the conversation. If it doesn't suit someone, you can stop at any time.
How many conversations does a book take?
Usually six to twelve, each around half an hour. The stories build up on their own — no rushing, and no homework.
Who sees the recordings and transcripts?
Only your family. Recordings are stored securely and used solely for your book. Topics you mark as private stay out of the conversation and out of the book. At your request, we permanently delete everything.
Can we review the book before it's printed?
Absolutely. You approve the table of contents, chapters and quotes. Nothing goes to print without your blessing.
